Ask!
Haven’t been on tumblr in ages, but I just felt like writing this and putting it somewhere that isn’t Facebook.
Capitalism: a system that claims to be the most fair and the most free because “no poor man is prohibited from creating a fortune”. It’s true that this is an equal right. But fair? What planet are you from? No one gets the same opportunities in this world. If you’re born into a rich family, you are rich, and you have all the opportunities of a rich person. If you’re born into a poor family—then what? You may receive a limited education, leading to limited job choices. If you’re born into an abusive or neglecting family, it could be worse. How is this fair? These people may not be legally “prohibited” from creating a fortune, but their situation renders it so. It is patronising to say they will simply be “provided for through voluntary means, i.e., private charity.” Where is there opportunity?
And to say we are free while living under capitalism is like saying a caged bird is free. It is free to move about its cage as it likes. In a capitalist system, we are free to worship money and work in whatever way we like. If you don’t, you starve. What about those who have realised that the whole of Western society has been fucking brainwashed into this ridiculous money cult? What about those who don’t see money as a god? Or, a “sign of material and spiritual greatness”, as this hopelessly biased website puts it.
Money is not the root of all evil, of course. I believe ignorance and indifference are the only evils in this world, but they can be strongly tied to capitalism. Most people in this society believe that money is what we have to aspire to in our lives. Well it fucking isn’t. Indifference comes in when people begin to put profit before welfare, rights, and lives.
If your life’s goal revolves around wealth, and if you think that capitalism is a necessary system, then you have been brainwashed by this farce in the same way as any cult member or religious terrorist. We have been fed false dichotomies.
Love your fellow Earthlings, not some meaningless shitpaper. Fuck capitalism.
Whoo, I almost forgot about Tumblr (until I remembered it).
All the posts on my feed are from Art Student Owl.
Could be interesting. Although I dunno how many people would bother

“ As soon as I realized that I didn’t need meat to survive or to be in good health, I began to see how forlorn it all is. If only we had a different mentality about the drama of the cowboy and the range and all the rest of it. It’s a very romantic notion, an entrenched part of American culture, but I’ve seen, for example, pigs waiting to be slaughtered, and their hysteria and panic was something I shall never forget. ”
