"I wonder, what is the blood on the tracks that I happened to survive, that others did not, simply because of the forces of society that prevent it at every turn? My life experience tells me that when you don’t find blacks in the sciences, when you don’t find women in the sciences, I know that these forces are real, and I had to survive them in order to get where I am today. So before we start talking about genetic differences, you gotta come up with a system where there is equal opportunity. Then we can have that conversation."

Neil DeGrasse Tyson when asked about the “genetic differences” that may be the reason that not as many women go into science [x]

The Human Brain

The first time I held a human brain in Anatomy Lab I was completely speechless. I looked at my classmates expecting a similar reaction and they looked back at me confused like…”dude let’s start identifying the structures.” I had to take a step back and let it process…in my hands was someone’s entire life. From start to finish, every memory, every emotion, every bodily control…was right there in my hands.
